Designed with an axial return outer-mixture system and a unique impeller channel, this heavy-duty sewage pump requires no foot valve or additional priming water before starting. ZW series self-priming non-clogging sewage pump primarily consists of pump casing, impeller, back cover, mechanical seal, pump shaft, bearing housing, inlet valve, gas-liquid separation tube, priming valve, suction nozzle, and discharge nozzle.

Operating Principle

The pump casing is designed with a liquid storage chamber, which connects to the working cavity via the upper backflow hole and the lower circulation hole, forming an axial backflow external-mixing system. After the pump stops running, a specific volume of liquid remains stored within the pump internal cavity.

Upon pump startup, the stored liquid inside the pump is driven by the impeller rotation, entraining air and throwing it upward. The liquid recirculates back to the working cavity through the internal mesh grid of the gas-liquid separation tube, while the air is discharged out of the pump, generating a specific vacuum inside the pump to achieve self-priming.

Since a one-way check valve is installed at the pump suction inlet, it can be restarted instantly for subsequent operations without requiring repeat water priming.

Q1: What is the main difference between the ZW pump and a regular self-priming clean water pump?

A: Regular self-priming pumps are designed only for clean water; solids or fibers will instantly clog their impellers. The ZW Series is specially designed for liquids containing particulate pollutants or fibrous contaminants. It features a wider, non-clogging impeller channel and an external-mixing axial backflow system, allowing solid particles, sludge, and fibrous trash to pass through without jamming.

Q2: What is the maximum solid size and fiber length the ZW pump can handle?

A: The Zw series comes in three designs: semi-open impeller design, fully open impeller design, and enclosed impeller design.

Solid Particles: Can pass spherical solids up to 50% of the pump's discharge diameter

Long Fibers: Can handle fibrous impurities up to 150% of the discharge diameter without wrapping around the shaft.

Q3: Can the ZW pump handle fuel, oils, or highly corrosive chemicals?

A: Yes, it can be used, but it is not recommended. The ZW series is better suited for solid-laden sewage and tends to operate with higher noise levels. If you need to transfer oils, we recommend using our ZX or CYZ-A series pumps, fitted with Nitrile Rubber (NBR) seals and an explosion-proof motor.

For Highly Corrosive Chemicals: Standard cast iron will corrode quickly. We recommend choosing 304/316 stainless steel (indicated by model suffix 'P') or duplex stainless steel, which offer excellent resistance against acidic and alkaline industrial wastewater corrosion.

Q4: How deep can the ZW pump suck liquid, and does it need a foot valve at the bottom of the pit?

A: The maximum vertical suction lift for the ZW series is 5 meters. No foot valve is required at the suction pipe inlet. You only need to pour priming water into the pump casing once during initial installation; after that, it automatically self-primes on every start.

Q5: In what exact applications and industries is the ZW pump mostly used?

A: The ZW series is an all-around workhorse for heavy-duty dirty fluid transfer:

Municipal & Civil: Sewage collection pits, rainwater drainage, and septic tank pumping.
